FUNCTIONAL GENOMICS & PERSONALIZED WELLNESS
Your Health Is Personal. Your Approach Should Be Too.
Tired of trying different diets, supplements, and wellness strategies without knowing what's actually right for you?
Your genetics can offer valuable clues about your body's unique needs. We combine genetic insights, nutrition, and lifestyle coaching to help you make more informed choices and build a sustainable approach to better health and longevity.
Feel Well. Live Well.
Think Well. Age Well.
Functional Nutrition & Lifestyle Genomics/Genetics is about optimizing your health based on your blueprint and using food and lifestyle to support the expression of your genes based on your genetics (DNA) test.
Our DNA is personal and tells a story about ourselves. With this information, we can then make empowered choices. Stop guessing and start working with your own personalized nutrition and lifestyle plan to help you unlock your true potential and optimize your health and well-being.
What is Functional Genomics?
We all have around 3 billion DNA pairs living within our 23 pairs of chromosomes and while 98% of our genes are the same, our protein coding genes represent about 2% of our genome. So while we have the same genes, we all have genetic variants that impact how we look, what we react to, what nutrients or type of exercise we need to thrive, how our detoxification can be impacted and so much more.
IT PROVIDES YOU WITH INSIGHT INTO KEY FACTORS OF OUR HEALTH AND WELL-BEING BASED ON YOUR UNIQUE BIOLOGY SUCH AS:
Eating behaviours
Food reactions
Response to different types of diets
Best type of exercises
Nutritional needs you may need to optimize
Metabolic health factors
It’s a roadmap into your very own individual nutrient needs, exercise and lifestyle recommendations tailored to your unique genetic makeup for optimized health.

Hi, I’m Caroline.
I incorporate my knowledge as well as my advanced training in functional nutrition and functional medicine from Functional Medicine University and advanced training in functional testing helping you create impactful change in your health and wellbeing based on a personalized approach informed by you designed for you. Your Body. Your biology.
-
When I first graduated as a nutritionist with first-class honours from the Institute of Holistic Nutrition (CNP) I joined a medical clinic where I was exposed to the power of genetic testing and had the opportunity of being mentored in functional genomics. There was no turning back for me. Seeing how empowering it was to understand how our body works and how best to support it through nutrition, lifestyle, and supplements I pursued numerous advanced trainings in functional genomics such as Translational Nutrigenetics and Nutrigenomics| Manuka now 3X4, Functional Genomics with the DNA Company, Nutritional Genomics with the American Nutrition Association, DNA training for Clinical Practice, Advanced Nutrigenomics and Nutrigenetics for Clinical Practice as well as Culinary Genomics with the Genomic Kitchen.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Curious About Genetic Testing?
Understanding your genetics can open the door to a more personalized approach to health. Here are answers to some common questions about genetic testing, what your results can reveal, and how those insights can help guide your next steps.
-
Genetic testing offers a deeper look into your unique biological blueprint. It can reveal genetic variations that influence how your body processes nutrients, responds to lifestyle factors, and functions across different biological systems.
These insights can help you better understand your individual tendencies and make more informed decisions about your nutrition, lifestyle, and long-term well-being.
-
Your genes provide valuable clues about how your body functions and responds to different influences.
When interpreted alongside your health history, lifestyle, and personal goals, genetic insights can help identify areas worth prioritizing, from nutrition and metabolism to exercise, recovery, and overall well-being.
Rather than following generalized recommendations, you can take a more personalized approach to supporting your health.
-
The functional genomic testing used in Caroline's approach focuses on genetic variations, often called SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms), that may influence biological processes and responses to nutrition and lifestyle.
It is not intended to diagnose medical conditions or predict whether you will develop a serious disease.
The goal is to identify useful insights that can inform proactive, personalized health and lifestyle decisions.
-
For most people, one genetic test can provide information that remains relevant throughout their lifetime because their underlying DNA sequence generally stays the same.
However, how genes are expressed can be influenced by factors such as lifestyle, environment, and aging.
As genetic research continues to evolve, new interpretations or updated testing options may become available.
-
Not directly. Your genetic results are only one part of understanding your body's needs.
Genes work together in complex biological pathways, which means an individual genetic variation doesn't automatically indicate that you need a specific supplement.
Caroline considers your genetic insights alongside your health history, nutrition, lifestyle, and individual circumstances to help identify appropriate areas of focus, with an emphasis on food-first strategies.
-
What's the difference between at-home DNA tests and practitioner-guided genomic testing?
Many direct-to-consumer DNA tests provide generalized reports about genetic traits and potential tendencies.
Practitioner-guided genomic testing takes a more personalized approach to interpretation. Rather than relying on genetic results alone, a trained practitioner considers your broader health history, lifestyle, and goals to help put the findings into context.
The real value comes not simply from receiving genetic data, but from understanding what that information may mean for you and how to apply it appropriately.
-
What areas of my health can genetic testing provide insights into?
Depending on the test, genomic insights may help inform your understanding of several areas, including:
Nutrition & Metabolism: Individual differences in nutrient processing and metabolic tendencies.
Heart Health: Genetic factors associated with cardiovascular health.
Hormonal Health: Variations that may influence hormone-related biological pathways.
Exercise & Recovery: Genetic tendencies related to physical performance and recovery.
Brain Health: Biological factors associated with cognitive function and healthy aging.
Immune Function: Genetic variations involved in immune-related processes.
These insights are intended to complement your overall health assessment, not replace medical testing or professional diagnosis.
-
Why work with a practitioner to interpret my genetic results?
Genetic information can be complex, and individual results rarely tell the whole story.
Working with a trained practitioner helps put your results into context by considering how different genetic pathways interact with your health history, environment, nutrition, and lifestyle.
Caroline helps translate these insights into practical, personalized recommendations so you can focus on what is most relevant to your individual goals.

No blood test required! Genetic testing is done using a simple, non-invasive cheek swab that you can complete in the comfort of your own home.
You'll receive a testing kit with instructions. Simply rub the provided swab along the inside of your cheeks to collect a small sample of cells, then place it in the collection tube and return it to the lab as directed.
It's quick, painless, and requires no needles or clinic visits. Once your results are ready, Caroline will help you understand what they reveal about your unique genetic blueprint.
